Recalls lopsided much?

A thought struck me as I read yet another article about the recent vehicle recall and the ensuing brouhaha.  There's hearings and demanded apologies and demanding that it's fixed quickly.  I'm not saying none of this should be done in this case as the recall subject is a safety concern for drivers and the poor sap driving in front of that vehicle.  Obviously this is a big deal.

Why aren't defective drop-side cribs a bigger deal?  They've killed infants.  We've recently gone through the largest recall ever with multiple manufacturers involved.  Where's the Congr.essio.nal hearing and front-page headlines over crib safety?  Hell, where's the damn hearing that rakes crib manufacturers over the coals for having the worst instructions ever? (so I hear, haven't experienced it yet.)

I suppose there's more money at stake in $30k+ vehicles, versus $200 cribs.
