Thursday Run-Down

I'm avoiding work.  Mostly because my internal client has decided that someone else should re-write a report and he assumed that I would willingly sign it as an author even though I had nothing to do with the re-write.  I realize I have a temper and I try not to fire off e-mails when I'm mad but it didn't work this time.  I called him out for not communicating to me that the document was being re-written, told him I wouldn't sign the document, and copied his supervisors.  Maybe not a good idea but I'm not going to be a fucking doormat.  He isn't talking to me now.  But, he's talking to everyone around me and I'm the Team Lead.  Good times.

We have heat!  S had a service guy over yesterday afternoon and they wired up the boiler, got it running...and found some components that aren't working.  One important component is the one that tells the boiler to shut off when it reaches a certain temperature.  Yeah, broken.  So, until those get fixed we can heat the house but S has to keep an eye on the temperature of the boiler and manually shut off the heat at the appropriate time. I guess it's better than nothing and he'll try to get the fixes done this weekend so we aren't waking up in the freezing cold anymore.  Between it being pitch black when the alarm goes off and our house being 60 degrees because we can't run the boiler while we're sleeping, it's quite difficult to get out of bed in the morning.

Apparently we have to stop trying to escape our lives.  We didn't really think much of winging off to San Diego, Hawaii and Boston/NYC.  Part of it is being frustrated that we don't have a baby yet so we're doing what we want when we want to.  Too bad escaping our lives comes with giant price tags!  I've been using the excuse that we're doing our part to bolster the economy since we both have stable jobs.  :)  Yep, we've bolstered all right.  Back to saving mode.
