The guys start working on our kitchen Monday! As in three days away Monday. And here we are, the ultimate procrastinators, scrambling to make a final decision on the fridge. And surprise! we have to find a microwave so he can size the cabinet for that too. Good grief. Oh, and we need a loan. Minor detail.
Lesson #1 I learned in remodeling: Find your appliances first. While we don't have to actually buy them yet it has been the biggest pain in my ass to try to figure out what we want on such short notice. I thought we would have tons of time to go shopping for that stuff as work was being done and totally skipped over the "design aesthetics" aspect of the whole deal. Our guy likes to take the cabinets almost all the way down to the fridge to enclose it and make it look pretty.
Lesson #2 (from Consumer Reports). Dual-fuel is NOT all that it's cracked up to be despite the price tag. *gulp* Thank goodness I read the reviews so I don't waste $. I do like the looks of a gas cooktop and I think the gas ovens are pretty decent these days. Then again, the electric ranges are way less expensive and that's what I've cooked on all my life. Practicality vs. aesthetics again. I suck at these decisions.
I'm going to make a sorry attempt at working now.
