Hi, I’m Geochick.

Welcome to my blog. What started out as a private blog to document our adoption journey has evolved into my journey through therapy and spiritual awakening. Without our struggles to build a family, I’m not sure I’d be waking up, and for that I’m grateful.

Now it's hitting home...

Paper pregnancy is weird - someone hands you a letter that says ....Congratulations you're "psychologically pregnant!" or something to that effect, I haven't actually read the letter yet. *embarrassed*

Yesterday was a whirlwind/blur kind of day. Our meeting was at 8:00am and I had worked on my letter until 11:00pm Sunday night so I was pretty pooped. S got up early to work on his letter and when I tried to print his out, my lovely printer tried to pull 10 sheets of paper through. Murphy's Law! At this point it was 7:30am (agency is 1/2 hour away). So we fought with the printer for a good 15 minutes; traffic was a nightmare; S took the wrong alternate route (should've followed me, occasionally I know what I'm doing!); subsequently we were 1/2 hour late to the meeting. Not a good start to the day. However, the director was more than accomodating and very nice despite our tardiness and the fact our letters are not completely done. We discussed the process with her a little bit and then we read over our homestudy report which was fine. Turned in the video and draft letters, wrote a check and voila - we're on the list!

The director was so cute. She said, "Now you have to go celebrate. Buy something for the baby to mark this day!" And both of us thought to ourselves "WHEN?" It was a totally busy day for both of us so maybe tonight we'll look for something, or the froggy-minky will do as the marker. :)

Today I found out we are No. 46 on the list, our video got two-thumbs up from our SW and she thinks the draft letters are fine. We just need to do that pesky copying-the-letter-by-hand thing. S's will look great, he totally has "enginnering" handwriting. I have chicken-scratch. A testament to my slightly more creative side I suppose. ;-)
