Hi, I’m Geochick.

Welcome to my blog. What started out as a private blog to document our adoption journey has evolved into my journey through therapy and spiritual awakening. Without our struggles to build a family, I’m not sure I’d be waking up, and for that I’m grateful.

I Think I Freaked Out One Of My Friends

When we were traveling home from vacation I heard that Hous.ton got a little snow.  It always cracks me up that the city shuts down completely once the white fluffy stuff starts falling.  So I texted a friend of mine who lives down there and asked how she was enjoying the weather.  The reply was a tad sarcastic but included a very important announcement.  She and her DH have applied to adopt internationally.

A week after getting home I decided to send her a lengthy detailed e-mail about our experience and asked a ton of questions as well.  Here's the first reply from her:

"Wow, Geochick, that's quite an e-mail.  Give me a couple of days to get back to you."

*giggle*  Ooops.

I finally got an e-mail back from her detailing all their ups and downs so far and it was pretty interesting to read her perspective.  One of the most interesting comments was that she said she thought adopting internationally would involve less drama than domestic.  I'm just the opposite - somehow I got it in my head that adopting domestically would be easier than international.

Really, anyway you slice it, both paths are difficult and there's still a ridiculous number of hoops to jump through.

Dear Santa,
