Hi, I’m Tara.

What started out as a private blog to document our adoption journey has evolved into my journey through therapy, spiritual awakening and whatever I feel like writing. Without our struggles to build a family, I’m not sure I’d be waking up, and for that I’m grateful.

The State of Colorado deems us Baby X's legal parents.

The most pressing issue at hand once I got the phone call that the adoption decree was stamped, filed and in the mail? Posting photos on F-B of course! We haven't been allowed to post, e-mail or text photos for the past 6 months. I've been planning my album for weeks, trying to choose photos that are super cute while resisting the urge to upload all 400 or so that I've amassed over the past six months. (I'm running out of disk space in my measly 80 gig hard drive.)

This weekend we're having a little party with our families to celebrate Baby X's adoption day. At first it was going to be a lovely formal dinner with courses and china and champagne. That's hysterical in a what-was-I-thinking? kind of way. We've settled on a taco bar with paper plates, beer, and champagne. Might as well, we have a good one hanging out in a basement closet just waiting for the right occasion! It's also a magnum, not like it's a good idea for S an I to kill the bottle ourselves. And of course, we have cake. A fancy cake from a fancy bakery. I'm so freakin' excited about the cake that I'll subject you to photos of it. Stay tuned!

It's so nice to be done with the process. No more fingerprints, no more meetings and no more paperwork. Such a relief!
