Hi, I’m Tara.

What started out as a private blog to document our adoption journey has evolved into my journey through therapy, spiritual awakening and whatever I feel like writing. Without our struggles to build a family, I’m not sure I’d be waking up, and for that I’m grateful.

#MicroblogMondays - Now, I'm Nervous

About the state of the country. It was one thing for me to try to brush off the tweets, to support the people who are fighting this administration, and to try to trust that collectively, this country would condemn the administration’s stance on….oh, just about everything.

It’s not to say that I completely stuck my head in the sand, it’s that I was trying really, really hard to be optimistic. It’s not even one thing that has me convinced, it’s been a series of things from the way mass shootings were treated, racism has been drummed up giving the extremists a bully pulpit, conditions at the southern border, raids on people who have been here for years with no criminal record, the way the Prez will not put down his goddamn phone, the way the field trying to unseat him is way to broad and spread too thin, to this latest report.

When he was elected I figured, eh, 4 years and he’ll be gone. We have checks and balances and 3 branches of government for a reason, so that no one person can get control. More than halfway through this administration and my optimism is gone. Collectively, this country is numb to the hate-mongering, the racism, the misogyny, and the dismantling of our checks and balances one by one.

How the hell is this 2019?
